Thanks to Mr Norman for buying the compost which meant that we could get down to mulching our fruit trees. First, we talked about why: nutrition, moisture and heat retention and hopefully the prevention of weeds and erosion. They all got stuck in with gloves on and marvelled at the blossom. After that, the rain butt was put to good use watering them all. We also planted up the remainder of a raised bed with chives, dill and coriander. After we had watered them in and topped up the pond, the children sampled some fennel and mint. Only Louisa was brave enough to try the lovage which she said was delicious!
The children will be choosing their own herbs to cook with over the rest of this year.
