Nature club really enjoyed the pond-dipping session this Thursday.  We managed to identify most of the creatures, except a scorpion like one which may have been the larvae of a damsel fly.  We spotted leech, pond snail, pond skaters, water boatmen, diving beetle, spider and ladybird, as well as countless midges and flying insects over the pond itself.  We also talked about why we don’t have fish and that everything in the pond has got there naturally.  Fish would predate a lot of the creatures in here and we hope to have newts at some point. We have blackcurrants in the freezer from our raised bed and will have courgettes, onions and garlic in the weeks we return to school.  Looking forward to seeing everything evolve!
