Today nature club were on a mission to look for signs of autumn. They covered a lot about flora and fauna, but I decided to concentrate on the different coloured leaves they had gathered and what those colours tell us. We started by thinking what autumn feels like for the tree as it gets darker and colder and how this means the tree can't carry on producing its own food through photosynthesis. This means that the chlorophyll which makes the leaves green starts to break down and reveals other colours that were always in the leaf

We also looked at the pond and talked about conkers, hibernation and migration, but more on that another time.
