December Newsletter

Dear Parents and Carers,

Christmas is such a magical time at Foxton and I want to share what has been a wonderfully busy and rewarding few weeks, as well as some key information about the festive activities still to come. I hope you and your families are beginning to feel the excitement around Christmas; it has certainly arrived in school.

Let's start though with a recap. Over November, the whole school took part in UK Parliament Week, exploring British Values with a particular focus on Democracy. Every class engaged brilliantly and the week concluded with a whole-school vote led by our School Council. The children were tasked with choosing how Foxton should celebrate its 60th birthday in the summer term - and the overwhelming winner was a whole-school pyjama day/birthday party, complete with additional treats to be planned. A fittingly fun way to mark such a milestone!

The children also enjoyed free karate workshops, which created a real buzz and helped spark interest in the new karate club launching after Christmas.

We were also treated to a fantastic assembly from Rabbit Class, who confidently shared their recent learning, while Otter Class ventured out on an exciting new trip to the Richard III Visitor Centre and Leicester Cathedral - part-funded by our FSA and brilliantly linked to their history topic.

Most recently, our Fox Cubs and Rabbits lit up the stage with their spectacular Christmas performance, A Christmas Rhyme. It was a real treat and we’re all looking forward to the final performance this evening at 6.30pm (children to arrive from 6.00pm).

Tomorrow brings even more festive cheer with Christmas Jumper Day (usual uniform, except for jumpers) and our fantastic Christmas Dinner. As always, staff and governors will be serving the children - an annual tradition that always lifts everyone’s spirits.

Next week promises to be just as exciting. On Tuesday 16th December, Fox Cubs will be heading off on their 'Mog' theatre trip, and I’m very pleased to say I’ve managed to join them!

On Wednesday 17th December, we welcome families into school for our Decoration Making Workshops. Please arrive at 2.30pm, and feel free to visit any classroom to create a festive decoration with your child. Families with more than one child are warmly encouraged to work together in the classroom of their choice.

On Thursday 18th December, our FSA will be running ‘Elfridges’, giving children the opportunity to buy a Christmas present for a loved one. Finally, on Friday 19th December, we will walk together to Foxton Church, leaving school at 1.30pm, for a 2.00pm Carol Service. We will return to school afterwards for a safe and slightly earlier collection at approximately 3.00pm.
