February Newsletter

Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back to everyone after half-term. In school terms, we are now halfway through the academic year - although in reality it always feels much further along than that! The remaining spring and summer terms are sure to fly by, packed full of fantastic experiences for the children and, we hope, some increasingly kind weather too.
Beginning on Monday 2nd March, we will start an assessment fortnight. During this time, children in Years 2-5 will complete NTS tests in reading and maths. These assessments support teachers in refining their professional judgements and ensure that appropriate stretch and challenge continue to be provided so every child can make the very best progress possible.
Year 6 have recently completed a round of mock SAT papers, and their results were absolutely phenomenal. We are incredibly proud of them and very much looking forward to seeing how they perform in May.
March is set to be an exciting month beyond the classroom as well, with several trips taking place, part-subsidised by the FSA. Rabbit Class are visiting West Midlands Safari Park on Tuesday 3rd March, while Badger Class will travel to London on Wednesday 25th March to watch The Lion King. We are certain this will inject even more energy and enthusiasm into our own performance rehearsals back at school!
Information about World Book Day on Thursday 5th March has already been shared, but please remember to come dressed as a ‘word’ and bring along one of your current favourite books to share. Some of the work created during Book Day will be showcased for those attending the FSA Reading Campfire event after school on Friday 6th March.
We round off the term with another wonderful class assembly - this time from Otter Class - before breaking up for the Easter fortnight on Friday 27th March.
It promises to be a busy and brilliant few weeks ahead. Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
