April Newsletter

Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope you’ve had a lovely Easter holiday. It was fantastic to greet everybody back this morning; it sounds like you’ve all had some wonderful experiences and days out over the break!
I would like to start by sharing that we will be full in Fox Cubs next September. This is fantastic news for the school, and thank you to everybody who continues to share positive word-of-mouth recommendations locally. Our new families should hear by the end of this week about their places.
In our assembly this afternoon, we are being joined by the LCH Charity, who will be launching this year’s Colour Dash! Many of you will remember this from last year, when we raised over £2,000 for the charity, which works with disadvantaged families across Leicestershire. The date for this year’s Colour Dash will be Friday 1st May, and more information about sponsorship and practical arrangements (such as what to wear) will be sent home soon.
We have two quite short half-terms to finish the year. Please also remember that Monday 4th May is a bank holiday, and school will be closed. Later that week, we are excited to be hosting the Lunchtime Bus on Thursday 7th May, as well as a whole-school Global Goals-themed ‘Life on Land Day’ in collaboration with BBC Radio Leicester on Friday 8th May.
The week beginning Monday 11th May is SATs week for our superb Year 6 children, who are more than ready to show what they can do. We are predicting another fantastic set of results. SATs week concludes with Summer Dancing (Maypole) at 2pm on Friday 15th May.
This half-term finishes with an exciting trip to Pizza Express for Badger Class on Thursday 21st May, where they will take part in a food technology workshop, as well as a Rabbit Class Assembly to finish the term on Friday 22nd May.
After the May half-term, the calendar looks equally busy, with children and staff celebrating ‘60 Years of Foxton’ on Friday 5th June. More details will follow about the activities planned during the school day and what the children can wear. Sports Day, weather permitting, will take place on Friday 12th June, with gates opening shortly after 1pm for a 1.30pm start.
On Monday 15th June, we are excited to have our IQM Assessment Day. This year, staff have worked hard to prepare for the Inclusion Quality Mark assessment, which we hope will champion our inclusive ethos and practice at Foxton. The assessor may ask to speak to parents at either end of the school day, so please do share your thoughts and feedback, as many of you kindly did in our recent parent survey.
During the week beginning Monday 15th June, we also have a parents’ ‘drop-in’ session on Wednesday 17th June from 2.30pm, where you will be able to see your child learning in class and join in with a fun activity. Badger Class will be heading to the Warning Zone on Friday 26th June, which provides valuable safeguarding lessons across a range of real-life scenarios ahead of their transition to secondary school.
Fox Cubs will present our final class assembly of the year on Friday 26th June, before we head into ‘show week’, when Badger Class will perform their version of The Lion King on Thursday 2nd July, with performances at 2pm and 6.30pm. This year the productions will be ticketed (at no cost) to ensure we don't exceed maximum capacity for the hall. Tuesday 7th July is the last day of term, and our Leavers’ Service will take place at 2pm.
So, quite a lot ahead of us and many things to look forward to! Thank you, as always, for all your support and continued positivity in what we do at Foxton.
